Thanks to the contribution of the 5x1000 scheme, the University of Insubria has been able to support, as part of the 2022 and 2023 Young Researchers Call for Proposals, numerous innovative projects led by young researchers addressing contemporary challenges, from climate change to health, from the enhancement of cultural heritage to urban regeneration.
The funded activities, presented publicly on 11 October 2024 in Varese, in the Granero Porati lecture hall, represent the University's concrete commitment to its third mission and to building the future through knowledge. This is why Insubria is renewing its invitation to donate 5x1000 as part of your tax return, indicating tax code 95039180120.
PROJECTS SUPPORTED WITH 5X1000
Chemical devices for sustainable agriculture
Silvia Gazzola, Department of Science and High Technology – HERBICRAFT
Design of innovative devices for the controlled release of herbicides, in collaboration with Bayer CropScience, to reduce environmental impact and improve agricultural yields. The project is based on expertise acquired in the pharmaceutical field.
Intestinal barrier and genetic defects
Isabella Barbiero, Department of Medicine and Technological Innovation and Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences – Gut deficits in CDKL5 deficiency disorder
Pioneering study on the link between the CDKL5 gene and gastrointestinal dysfunction in a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, with potential therapeutic implications.
Epigenetics and the heart
Christina Pagiatakis, Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences – EpiHeart
Analysis of the epigenetic mechanisms involved in cardiac hypertrophy, in particular the role of the TAZ co-activator in the regulation of foetal genes and the response to cardiac stress.
Photocatalysis for cleaner water
Davide Spanu, Department of Science and High Technology – PHOTONS
Development of innovative photocatalysts based on TiO₂ nanotubes decorated with Au-Hg nanoparticles for the selective removal of nitrates from contaminated water. A sustainable approach that also integrates mercury decontamination strategies.
Urban dance as a tool for safety and inclusion
Valentina Albanese, Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences – WE DanSe
A transdisciplinary project that explores urban dance as a form of reappropriation of public space by women and a means of political expression. The ‘We DanSe’ workshop involved international researchers in performance and training activities.
Guido Morselli: literature, territory and memory
Elena Valentina Maiolini, Department of Humanities and Innovation for the Territory – MoOnLife – Morselli Onlife
Promotion of the work of Guido Morselli through the publication of unpublished works, educational activities, digitisation of sources and the inclusion of the “Casina Rosa” in the circuit of author's house museums. The project actively involves schools and citizens.
These projects demonstrate how the 5x1000 to the University of Insubria translates into concrete, interdisciplinary initiatives with a high social impact, capable of generating knowledge and value for the local area and the scientific community.
Choosing to allocate 5x1000 to Insubria means investing in young talent, supporting research and promoting a more just, inclusive and sustainable society.bile.
If you are a private individual, you can allocate 5 per thousand of your income tax (IRPEF) to our University: this has been provided for in the Finance Act for several years now, allowing taxpayers to support scientific research.
The 5 per thousandcosts nothing and does not compete with the 8 per thousand: it is an additional portion of the taxable amount, which previously remained with the State.
Our University allocates all 5x1000 resources to support research by funding research conducted by young researchers.
If you are required to file a tax return, you can use the appropriate forms attached to:
- Form CU 2019 for 2018 income
- Form 730/2019 for 2018 income
- Form Unico 2019 for individuals for 2018 income
The space for choosing the five per thousand is similar in all forms.
To allocate your five per thousand to our university, when completing your tax return, simply sign the box ‘Funding for scientific research and universities’ and indicate the tax code of the University of Insubria:
95039180120
You can still request the form for the allocation of 5 per thousand from your employer or pension provider, sign in the space marked “Financing of scientific research and universities” and indicate the tax code of the University of Insubria:
95039180120
Seal the form in an envelope, write DESTINAZIONE CINQUE PER MILLE IRPEF (FIVE PER THOUSAND IRPEF ALLOCATION) on it and indicate the taxpayer's surname, first name and tax code.
Then, deliver the sealed envelope to a post office or bank, which will accept it free of charge, or to an intermediary authorised to transmit it electronically (CAF, accountant, etc.).
If you are an organisation or company and would like to support the University's activities, its students or specific research topics, you can do so at any time: consider setting up a study award or doctoral scholarship.

Within the will, it is possible to indicate that certain assets, whether movable or immovable, are to be bequeathed to the University of Insubria, even designating the bequest for a specific purpose.
It is also possible to name Uninsubria as sole heir in your will. If the intended use of the assets comprising the bequest is not specified, our University will decide how to use them in accordance with its institutional purposes. If, on the other hand, the intended use is specified, this means that the purpose of the bequest is predetermined by the testator.
