Free movers are international students interested in spending a semester abroad who organize their studies independently, without being a part of any exchange program. These students may apply for classes and exams and /or for practical activities (labs and traineeships).
Didactically speaking, free movers gain the same status as local students and get credits for the activities successfully passed.
To fund their experience abroad (food, accommodation, health care, etc.) they will have to look for specific scholarships in their home country and their host country.
Language Requirements: Level B2 or higher.
Free mover students:
- Get the authorization from the home Institution that possibly sends a nomination to erasmus@uninsubria.it
- Send a formal email request to erasmus@uninsubria.it that includes a motivation letter and a Mobility/Learning Agreement which specifies the mobility period
- Wait for a formal acceptance from the local coordinator
- Receive an Acceptance letter from the IRO
Registration: a few days before the arrival date free-mover students must contact the IRO office (erasmus@uninsubria.it) for mandatory registration.
For the activities successfully passed under the supervision of the local coordinator free-mover students gain credits, at the end of the experience the IRO office will issue and send a Transcript of Records listing the activities and the credits gained.
Insurance and health: as a general rule, once registered free-movers also gain local students’ insurance; please double-check this with your home Institution as well. As to health care, please refer to the home Institution.
