The University Library System is a coordinated system of facilities and services that supports research and teaching activities. Its purpose is to ensure the development, preservation, enhancement, management and use of the University's library and document heritage, as well as to provide adequate services for accessing bibliographic information and documents.
The Library System comprises four libraries: the Economics Library, the Medicine and Science Library in Varese, the Law and Humanities Library, and the Science Library in Como.
The Library and Documentation Services Area is the structure that manages the University Library System's bibliographic and documentary resources in paper or electronic form or open access, the anti-plagiarism control support application and the information systems instrumental to the provision of library services. It organises bibliographic and document services to support the University's teaching and research activities. It acquires bibliographic and document material of general interest to the University, ensuring the accessibility of the acquired material and related metadata. It is responsible for managing the University portal for access to document and bibliographic resources and for developing and managing the Digital Library. It organises and manages libraries and library services. It designs and delivers training activities for users. It offers assistance and advice on issues related to bibliometrics, Open Access, copyright and anti-plagiarism policies.
Through the portal insuBRE – Libraries and Electronic Resources portal, you can consult bibliographic information on over 100,000 books and journals held in libraries and approximately 50,000 subscriptions to electronic journals and databases that can be accessed directly online via the University network or remotely.
The assigned staff includes library, administrative and IT personnel.
