Osservatorio Giovanile di Genere Insubria - OGGI

OGGI (The Insubria Youth Gender Observatory) was established as part of the mandate for Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities, assigned by the Rector to Professor Paola Biavaschi.

The Observatory is a university body that operates in collaboration with the Prefecture, the Inter-institutional Anti-violence Network, and the Territorial School Office, as well as with the Guarantor for the Rights of Children and Adolescents.

The general aims of the Observatory are:

  1. to promote a thorough and updated understanding of youth distress, with particular attention to gender dimensions and forms of violence;
  2. to support the creation of educational and social policies based on scientific evidence;
  3. to foster collaboration among the University, institutions, schools, social services, health authorities, and third-sector organizations;
  4. to contribute to the spread of a culture of respect, prevention, and psychological well-being.
Composition of the Observatory

The Observatory is composed of the Scientific Director, who is responsible for the scientific, managerial, and strategic coordination of activities, and the Operational Council, which is responsible for monitoring the scientific validity of the studies and statistical surveys carried out by the Observatory, and for deciding the direction in which the members of the Observatory should operate, taking particular care of relations with local institutions.

In addition, there are:

  • a Research Team, composed of professors, researchers, experts, and students from psychology, sociology, pedagogy, educational sciences, law, statistics, communication sciences, and other relevant disciplines, which is responsible for designing and conducting research, analyzing data, and producing reports;
  • an Intervention Team, which includes experts and professionals with specific skills regarding minors and families—such as psychologists, social workers, and educators—whose task is to develop and implement interventions, training courses, and prevention activities.
