The service is dedicated to the entire academic community, particularly students. The laboratories are freely accessible when not being used for classes. The laboratories are kept open for free use based on requests, with a minimum of one active laboratory per location served. Check with the reception staff to find out which laboratories are available.
To access the workstations, simply use your University digital identity. After logging in, the computer will automatically connect to your personal cloud space (OneDrive), which can be viewed automatically using the Edge browser.
The cloud space is a tool available for the permanent and secure storage of any research or materials. Materials must not be downloaded onto the computer, as user profiles are periodically deleted.
Computers are subject to proactive malware and antivirus checks based on a cloud solution. The use of USB sticks is not permitted. The software available may vary slightly from laboratory to laboratory, but generally all software useful for personal productivity (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) and university licences (e.g. Matlab or MacMillan Platform) are installed.
The computers are not equipped with speakers, but wired headphones (e.g. those for smartphones) can be connected to the front, in a very easy-to-reach position, through which it will also be possible to access multimedia material.
The computers in the laboratories are usually equipped with various personal productivity tools and the most popular browsers. These include, for example:
- The Microsoft Office platform
- The LibreOffice productivity platform
- Browsers
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Utilities
- Acrobat Reader
- 7-zip
