ARIA is an experimental service provided by the University of Insubria and powered by artificial intelligence technologies. It is designed to help users access institutional information and navigate the University's digital services.
ARIA has been developed as an innovation and experimentation project and is intended as an informational support tool that complements the University's official communication channels.
ARIA does not replace University offices, service desks, or competent administrative units. Also, ARIA does not produce any administrative effects. Hence, the service is intended as an information and guidance tool, complementing official University channels, and should not be considered as a substitute for competent University offices or institutional support services.
The project is continuously evolving. Features, response mechanisms, and information sources may be updated over time based on institutional assessments and user feedback collected during the experimental phase.
ARIA is currently running as an experimental service.
The information provided by ARIA is intended for informational purposes only and does not constitute official University communications, formal administrative acts, or personalized advice.
During the experimental phase:
- the system's performance and behaviour may be progressively improved;
- information sources may be expanded, revised, or reorganised;
- new technical mechanisms may be introduced to enhance the service.
ARIA is available to the whole academic community, as well as to anyone interested in learning more about the organisation, services, and opportunities offered by the University of Insubria.
No registration or authentication is required.
ARIA can be accessed directly from the web pages of the University's website, where the service is available.
Users may:
- ask questions using natural language;
- receive answers based on information published on the University's official website and institutional sources;
- obtain guidance and links to relevant web pages for further information.
The service is accessible through standard web browsers and can also be used on mobile devices.
ARIA uses large language models (LLMs) to interpret user requests and generate responses that are consistent with the institutional information available.
At the current stage of development:
- no information is retrieved from external sources beyond the information domain defined by the University;
- responses are generated exclusively from institutional content and documentation published through official University channels.
As the project evolves, additional features may be introduced, including:
- document indexing and technical caching mechanisms for institutional resources such as PDF files, regulations, and forms;
- improvements to response generation and delivery;
- new informational support functionalities.
ARIA is free of charge.
As an experimental service, users acknowledge that:
- all responses are provided solely for informational purposes;
- information generated by ARIA does not produce administrative or legal effects;
- any inaccuracies or omissions should not be relied upon as the basis for formal decisions or administrative procedures.
The service must not be used for:
- submitting personal, special-category, or sensitive personal data;
- requesting confidential, restricted, or non-public information;
- unlawful purposes or activities inconsistent with the University's institutional mission.
To obtain official information, initiate administrative procedures, or seek assistance for case-specific matters, users must always contact the dedicated University offices through official communication channels.
The University reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time for organisational, technical, or security-related reasons.
Any personal data that may be provided while using ARIA is processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable Italian data protection legislation.
For further information, please refer to the [Official ARIA Privacy Notice - Italian]
The service is generally available 24 /7; however, it may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance activities, technical updates, or other operational requirements.
