The Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences provides numerous qualified services, including computer laboratories, an environmental research laboratory, a multimedia laboratory, and five libraries, some of which originate from specific donations to the Department.
More specifically, in addition to the Department’s own library, the following are active: the “Ada Annoni” Library (donated to the Department by the heirs of Professor Ada Annoni); the Library of the Research Centre on the History of Mountains, Material Culture, and Earth Sciences; the G. A. Lanzarone library collection (bequest and donation from the eponymous professor); and the extensive library of the “International Insubric Centre Carlo Cattaneo and Giulio Preti for Philosophy, Epistemology, Cognitive Sciences, and the History of Science and Technology”, structured around numerous bequests from prominent intellectuals of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The Department may use classrooms located in different buildings, in accordance with University regulations. The main venues used are Monte Generoso, Pad. Morselli, and Pad. Seppilli in Varese, and Valleggio in Como (also via videoconference).
DiSTA staff and students, as well as citizens, can first and foremost make use of the services offered by the Library of Medicine and Science in Varese and the Library of Law and Humanities in Como, which are part of the University Library System.
