Within the laboratory, activities are carried out including data analysis; permafrost core sectioning; granulometry, aerometry, surface thermal analyses, pH, and electrical conductivity analysis. The laboratory also serves as a space for maintaining field instruments such as IRGA analysers for CO2, georesistivimeters for ERT and SEV, soil moisture meters, corers for ice, lake sediments and peat, and all the equipment for measuring climatic parameters (wind speed and direction, soil and air temperature, snow height) used in the worldwide climatic and permafrost monitoring network.

Access arrangements and/or opening hours

Access is permitted only to:

  • staff from the Departments of Theoretical and Applied Sciences – DiSTA and Science and High Technology – DiSAT, who are part of the Research Group
  • authorised students (enrolled on degree courses in Environmental and Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, the Disca PhD or the PhD in Polar Sciences, and any thesis students from other national and international partner institutions or on international mobility)

all week (except Saturday) from 8.30 to 19.30.
