The Department of Economics’ academic programme addresses both the needs of the local and national regions and the demands of the international landscape, whilst taking into account significant developments within the economic and financial system.
With this in mind, the programme comprises a three-year Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management of Innovation and Sustainability (CLEMIS) – also available as a blended learning programme – and two Master’s degree programmes: in Economics, Law and Corporate Finance (EDIFI) and in Global Entrepreneurship, Economics and Management (GEEM).
The academic programme is further enriched by a first-level Master’s in General Management and other training initiatives that stem from research carried out within the Department and from collaboration with numerous national and international institutions.
DiECO’s international focus is reflected in Erasmus+ programmes (for study and work placements), non-EU mobility schemes, and dual-degree programmes. The opportunity to obtain a dual degree stems from cooperation agreements with Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Jena, Germany) and Université de Bordeaux (Bordeaux, France). There is also the opportunity to undertake a three-month study period at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in Delhi (India).
For several years now, the Department has also been promoting the “International Practicum” traineeship programme, which involves various European partner universities and local businesses.
The three-year Bachelor’s degree programme in Economics and Management of Innovation and Sustainability (CLEMIS) – also available as a blended learning programme – offers a course of study that ensures students acquire a solid grounding in the fundamental knowledge and methodologies of economics, business, law and quantitative subjects. The programme is structured around two key drivers of transformation in economic systems, business activities, the labour market and the professions in recent years – namely innovation and sustainability – through two thematic streams.
The Master’s degree programme in Economics, Law and Corporate Finance (EDIFI) aims to equip students with professional skills and expertise in the legal, business, economic and financial fields, enabling them to address and resolve, with a critical and independent approach, the challenges faced by businesses and economic operators in general, as well as the complexity of markets and financial intermediaries, and the changing management conditions of banks, insurance companies and other financial intermediaries. For this reason, the involvement of external professionals and practitioners from the business world and the professional sector is highly valued and particularly appreciated by students.
The Master’s degree programme in Global Entrepreneurship, Economics and Management (GEEM), taught entirely in English, focuses on entrepreneurship, internationalisation, innovation and new technologies, and aims to produce graduates who are able to compete in the international job market.
