FAQ - Jobs and Internships

You can find all the information about employment prospects on the webpage dedicated to each degree programme, in the “Career and professional opportunities” section.

University student collaborations are part-time work opportunities within the University, allowing students to carry out paid activities in various areas of the University. They therefore contribute both to students’ training and to the financial support of their studies.

The activities that students may be required to carry out as part of their collaboration with the University fall into the following categories:

general information and guidance services for students;
services aimed at assisting students with disabilities;
assistance activities for students involved in international mobility programmes;
support services for the organisation and running of cultural and/or scientific events;
cataloguing, data entry and recording activities, as well as the classification and preservation of archive material;
use of IT and audiovisual equipment;
collaboration within teaching and scientific facilities, libraries and any other areas open to students.

The student’s commitment in carrying out the assigned tasks may not exceed 200 hours, and the remuneration is €8.00 per hour.

To access this opportunity, students must register in the General Register of Part-Time Students via the Student Administration Web Services. Registration in the Register is possible from the second year of the programme onwards.

At the time of registration, students must declare their availability to carry out the activity at the various University campuses, selecting their preferred campuses from the list. The choice made will exclude the student from all rankings for activities to be carried out at campuses for which availability has not been given.

Yes. During your studies, you can undertake a curricular internship, i.e. an internship intended for students.

To activate a curricular internship, you need to contact the Internship Office of the department or school responsible for your degree programme and follow the steps they will explain to you.

If you would like to undertake a curricular internship but do not yet have a company to host you, access the Almalaurea platform or download the Almago app and look for an internship of interest among the published adverts, then apply for it.

If you are considered suitable, the company will contact you and, through the Internship Office of your department or school, you will be able to start the curricular internship.

Curricular internships are intended for students who need to obtain ECTS credits through an internship. They are activated by the Internship Offices of the departments or school responsible for the degree programmes.

Payment of an internship allowance is not compulsory, although it is welcomed where provided.

The duration of the internship is agreed between the company and the Internship Office of the department or school responsible for your degree programme, although the average duration of a curricular internship is generally 150 hours.

At the end of the internship, the Internship Office will recognise the ECTS credits obtained by the trainee.

To activate the internship, there must be an active agreement between the company and the University, and the training project must have been activated through the signatures of the parties concerned: the trainee, the company, and the department or school.

Extracurricular internships are intended only for graduates and follow the guidelines issued by the Lombardy Region.

These internships are activated and managed by the Communication, Guidance and Placement Service.

In this case too, the company must have an active agreement with the University and the training project must be activated.

Activation requires the signatures of the parties concerned and, once the company has received confirmation to proceed, it must send the office the COB/UNILAV document at least one day before the internship start date. This is a specific document that the company must send to INPS.

The trainee must also generally produce the Declaration of Immediate Availability (DID), which must be requested from the employment centre.

Unlike curricular internships, extracurricular internships carried out in the Lombardy Region require a mandatory monthly allowance of at least €500, or €400 with meal vouchers, and must last at least 2 months and no more than 6 months for simpler profiles (EQF 3), or 12 months for more demanding profiles, from EQF 4 upwards.

For curricular internships, you should contact the Internship Office of the department or school responsible for your degree programme.

Below you will find links to the pages where the updated contact details of the various Internship Offices are published.

For extracurricular internships, i.e. internships intended for graduates, you should contact the Communication, Guidance and Placement Service at placement@uninsubria.it or via the InfoStudenti service.

Yes. The Communication, Guidance and Placement Service provides graduates with access to many job vacancies, which are published on the Almalaurea portal.

You can apply for the job vacancies that interest you most and, if your CV is considered suitable, you will be contacted directly by the companies that posted the vacancy.

The Communication, Guidance and Placement Service can help you make your CV more effective. In addition, if you wish to send a copy of your CV to the office, it will be forwarded to companies that directly request profiles for specific job positions.

To arrange a placement interview with the office at the Varese or Como campuses, write to placement@uninsubria.it, or book an appointment through the InfoStudenti Service.
