The laboratory conducts research activities on fish reared in intensive farming systems, including studies on active and resting metabolism, nutritional strategies, nutrigenomics and microbiomics, aimed at agro-food production and animal welfare.

Equipment

  • A 20-cubic-metre pilot water recirculation system, equipped with a mechanical skimmer filter, biological filter, UV sterilisers, water temperature and pH control system, alarm system and continuous monitoring of key farming parameters (pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, power supply), designed to create optimal conditions for the farming of marine or freshwater fish.
  • Small-scale aquaria for experiments on larval stages
  • Controlled forced-swimming respirometric tunnel for studies of metabolism under physical effort, equipped with an automatic control system
  • Fully equipped laboratory for nutrigenomic and microbiomic analyses
