Contenuto servizio

The service consists of providing access to Data Network services (Internet) through the use of the University’s wireless network (WiFi), managed by the Information Systems Area.

Access is restricted to registered users; a username and password will be required to verify access credentials.

Who it is intended for

The service is intended for:

  • Permanent University staff (academic staff/researchers, technical-administrative staff) and students enrolled at the University: for whom the eduroam WiFi network is available;
  • Staff and students from universities or research institutions that are members of the Eduroam Federation: for whom the eduroam WiFi network is available;
  • Qualified University guests: by connecting to the insubria-ospiti WiFi network;
  • Participants in seminars and conferences: by connecting to the insubria-eventi WiFi network.
Service features
  • University staff: all academic and technical-administrative staff holding University domain credentials (essentially those with an email address of the type nome.cognome@uninsubria.it or IDSxxxxxxxx@uninsubria.it) are authorised to use the service; for these users, the credentials used to access University email are also valid for access to the wireless network.
    Warning: for security reasons, the service password must be changed every 90 days; on such occasions, access to the WiFi network must be reconfigured with the new password on all devices used (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.). Otherwise, continued access to the wireless network will not be possible.
  • Students regularly enrolled at the University: all active students who are duly enrolled at the University (i.e. those who have been issued an email account in the studenti.uninsubria.it domain) may access the wireless network using the same credentials employed to access the Student Registry Web Services.
    Warning: for security reasons, the service password must be changed every 90 days; on such occasions, access to the WiFi network must be reconfigured with the new password on all devices used (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.). Otherwise, continued access to the wireless network will not be possible.
  • Guests: access is permitted following registration of a Digital Identity, and the request must be validated by a Department/Unit Manager in order for the identity to be created. Access credentials and instructions for performing the first password change are sent to the applicant’s email address provided during the pre-registration phase.

The eduroam wireless network is designed to allow access to all services in a secure manner, in compliance with current security standards.
