All University users with credentials of the type nome.cognome@uninsubria.it or inizilalenome.cognome@studenti.uninsubria.it or inizilalenomecognome@studenti.uninsubria.it credentials have access to the WiFi network called ’eduroam‘ at all University locations and also to the WiFi networks called ’eduroam" of Italian and international institutions belonging to the federation.
The updated list of institutions belonging to the federation can be consulted on the Eduroam institutional website.
All users from other institutions participating in the Eduroam project are automatically authorised to use the wireless network at the University of Insubria campuses by connecting to the WiFi network called “eduroam”. Please note that this network is intended exclusively for users belonging to institutions outside the University.
In case of problems, users should first contact the technical support of their Home Institution, unless the problem is clearly related to the Visited Institution.

The University participates in Eduroam (Education Roaming), a service that allows users visiting other organisations to easily and securely access the wireless network using the same credentials provided by their own organisation.
Students, professors, researchers and university staff visiting an institution or organisation that participates in eduroam can access the network from any mobile device and authenticate themselves with the credentials they normally use within their own organisation.
The only technical requirement for accessing the Eduroam network at the University of Insubria is that your computer is equipped with a Wi-Fi card and is capable of supporting 802.1x authentication with WPA2/AES encryption.
The University and Eduroam users also adhere to the Regulations of the Italian Eduroam Federation; in accordance with the Regulations, the network protocols allowed on Eduroam are as follows:
- IPSec VPN: IP protocols 50 (ESP) and 51 (AH) incoming and outgoing and UDP/500 (IKE);
