ARIA (Artificial Intelligence Research Assistant) is an experimental service offered by the University of Insubria, based on artificial intelligence technologies and designed to help users access institutional information and navigate the University’s digital services.
The service began as a pilot and innovation project, and is intended as an information support tool, complementing the University’s official channels.
ARIA does not replace the relevant offices, helpdesks or services, nor does it have any administrative effect.
The project is constantly evolving: features, response methods and content may be updated over time based on the University’s assessments and feedback gathered during the trial.
The service is designed as a tool for information support and guidance, complementing the University’s official channels, and in no way replaces the relevant departments or institutional helpdesks.
ARIA is currently in the trial phase.
The responses provided by the service are for information purposes only and do not constitute official documents, formal communications or personalised advice.
During the trial:
- the system’s performance may be progressively improved;
- the information sources used may be expanded or reorganised;
- new technical mechanisms may be introduced to support the service.
The service is aimed at the entire academic community and all users interested in finding out about the organisation, services and opportunities offered by the University of Insubria.
No registration or authentication is required to use the service.
ARIA can be accessed directly from the pages of the institutional website where the service is active.
Users can:
- ask questions using simple, natural language;
- receive answers based on the information published on the institutional website and the University’s official content;
- obtain guidance and links to relevant in-depth pages.
The service is designed to be accessible via a web browser, including on mobile devices.
ARIA uses language models to interpret users’ queries and generate responses consistent with the available institutional content.
During this trial phase:
- no grounding is carried out against external sources outside the scope of information defined by the University;
- responses are generated from institutional content and documentation published on the University’s website.
As the project evolves, the following may be introduced:
- mechanisms for caching and technical indexing of documents (PDFs, regulations, forms);
- optimisations to response methods;
- new information support features.
ARIA is free to use.
As this is an experimental service, the user acknowledges that:
- the answers provided are for information purposes only;
- the information generated has no administrative effect;
- any inaccuracies or omissions may not be used as a basis for formal decisions.
This service must not be used for:
- the transmission of personal, specific or sensitive data;
- requesting confidential or non-public information;
- purposes that are unlawful or inconsistent with the University’s institutional aims.
For official information, administrative procedures or specific cases, you must always refer to the relevant offices and institutional channels.
The University reserves the right to amend, suspend or discontinue the service for organisational, technical or security reasons.
Any personal data you provide when using ARIA is processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable national legislation.
For more information, see the [official privacy notice for the ARIA service].
The service is normally available 24 hours a day, subject to system maintenance and updates.
