Justice, Peace and Truth – Giovanni Battista Gaulli

Living together does not necessarily mean sharing the same ideas, values or worldviews. Contemporary societies are characterised by cultural, social and individual differences that make coexistence a complex issue, constantly subject to tensions and transformations. Understanding how these differences can coexist and form meaningful relationships without losing their distinctiveness represents one of the central challenges of philosophical reflection on peace.

This theme will be explored during the fourth event in “Fare pace con il mondo. Nella radicale complessità del reale” (Making Peace with the World: In the Radical Complexity of Reality), a series of lectures promoted by the City of Como and the University of Insubria, in collaboration with the Il Paguro Cultural Association.

On Friday, 6 November, at 5.30 pm, Florinda Cambria, Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Insubria, will deliver a lecture entitled “Arranging, Composing: Perspectives on Coexistence” in the Aula Magna of the University's Sant'Abbondio campus in Como.

The lecture will offer a reflection on the conditions that make coexistence between individuals and communities possible, exploring how relationships are established and developed in societies characterised by a diversity of experiences and perspectives.

From a philosophical standpoint, the event will examine coexistence not simply as the absence of conflict, but as an ongoing process that requires us to continually reconsider our relationships with others.

The lecture forms part of the interdisciplinary programme, which approaches peace as an issue encompassing the many dimensions of individual and collective life.

The event will take place at the University of Insubria, Via Sant'Abbondio 12, Como. Participant registration will open at 5 pm, and the lecture will begin at 5.30 pm.
