Elections have been called to choose the new student representatives on the University of Insubria's governing and academic bodies for the two-year term from 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2028. Voting will take place online on Wednesday 25 November, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday 26 November, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Students can stand for election to the Academic Senate, Board of Directors, Evaluation Board, University Sports Committee, Department Councils, School of Medicine Council and Degree Programme Councils.

To stand for election, students must submit or join a candidate list, selecting the University body in which they wish to represent students. For the Academic Senate, Board of Directors and Evaluation Board, a single list must be submitted including candidates for all three bodies. Separate lists are required for the University Sports Committee, Department Councils, School of Medicine Council and Degree Programme Councils. An exception applies to PhD student representatives on Department Councils, who stand as individual candidates.

Candidate lists and applications must be submitted online from 8 October until 1 p.m. on 22 October, through Esse3-GEA, in the “Student elections” section.

Students may stand for election if they are regularly enrolled for the 2026/2027 academic year and are either within the standard duration of their degree programme or no more than one year beyond it. The election decree also sets out specific requirements for students provisionally enrolled in Master's degree programmes and for PhD students. Candidates should therefore check the eligibility requirements applicable to their individual circumstances before submitting their application.

Once submitted, each candidate list must collect a minimum number of supporting declarations.

Support can be submitted online from 1 p.m. on 23 October until 1 p.m. on 30 October. At least 50 supporting declarations are required for the joint list for the Academic Senate, Board of Directors and Evaluation Board, as well as for lists for the University Sports Committee. At least 10 are required for lists for Department Councils, the School of Medicine Council and Degree Programme Councils. Individual PhD candidates standing for Department Councils must collect at least five supporting declarations.

The lists and candidates admitted to the elections will be published on the University website by 1 p.m. on 3 November.

The elections will take place entirely online. On 25 and 26 November, students will be able to vote from a computer, smartphone or tablet using their University credentials. Voting will be available through a link published on the University website and sent to students' institutional email addresses, or through Esse3 in the “Student elections – Vote” section.
