It Can Be Done!”: an event on guidance-oriented teaching and dialogue between schools and the world of work in Varese on 1 October

Guidance-oriented teaching, relations between schools and businesses, and support for students in making educational and career choices are at the heart of “It Can Be Done!”, the event scheduled for Thursday 1 October, from 9 a.m., in the conference hall of Villa Recalcati in Varese.

The morning will present the outcomes of a co-design and direct discussion process developed through thematic working groups, involving the University of Insubria, the Varese Local Education Authority, schools and representatives from the business community.

The initiative, dedicated to the theme “Schools and the world of work in dialogue: a discussion between companies and local educational institutions”, is intended as an opportunity to present and explore the role of guidance-oriented teaching and the ways in which schools, universities and businesses can work together to help young people identify their talents, learn about educational opportunities and approach the world of work with greater awareness.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with participant registration. From 9.15 to 9.25 a.m., institutional greetings will be delivered by Andrea Uselli, the Rector’s Delegate for Guidance and Placement, Giuseppe Carcano, Head of the Varese Local Education Authority, school heads Daniele Marzagalli and Marco Zago, and Cristina Zambon, representing the Tavolo Unico Scuola Formazione Lavoro.

From 9.25 to 9.50 a.m., the programme will focus on the regulatory framework for guidance-oriented teaching, with Francesco Magni, University of Bergamo, speaking on “The challenge of guidance between personal talents and educational opportunities”.

This will be followed, from 9.50 to 10.15 a.m., by Paola Zini, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano, who will explore the pedagogical dimension of guidance-oriented teaching in a talk entitled “The pedagogical dimension of guidance-oriented teaching”.

From 10.15 to 10.30 a.m., Letizia Ferri of the University of Insubria will present the research report. From 10.30 to 11.30 a.m., the focus will shift to a practical case study: the students involved will present the USR-Insubria project, followed by the “Companies and Schools” working group, coordinated by Laura Caruso of the Varese Local Education Authority.

The conclusions and closing remarks, from 11.30 to 11.45 a.m., will be delivered by Stefano Bonometti of the University of Insubria. The morning will conclude, from 11.45 a.m. to 12.15 p.m., with an aperitif and an opportunity for discussion among participants.

The initiative involves the University of Insubria, the Varese Local Education Authority, Liceo Scientifico “G. Ferraris”, ISIS Newton, NEOS, FICEP and YOP.
