Three events in Como, Varese and online to welcome new students and help them navigate the services, resources and opportunities available throughout university life. This is the University of Insubria Welcome Day, organised to support students at the beginning of their academic journey and provide them with practical information to help them approach their first months at university with greater confidence and awareness.
The events will take place on 17 September, from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm, in person at the Como campus, Via Valleggio 11 (room V08); on 18 September, from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm, at the Varese campus, Via Rossi 9, Morselli Building (room 5TM); and on 14 October, from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm, online via Microsoft Teams.
«The Welcome Day is one of the first opportunities for new students to get to know not only their degree programme, but also the university as a whole – explains Professor Andrea Uselli, Rector’s Delegate for Guidance and Placement. – We want to provide practical information that is immediately useful, while also helping students understand that the University offers them a network of services and people they can turn to throughout their studies. Being aware of these opportunities from the very beginning means experiencing university life more consciously and approaching the first steps with greater confidence. It is a support pathway designed both to motivate students and to help them deal with doubts and possible uncertainties, so that they can make the most of their university experience.»
The events will be opened by Professor Uselli and Flavio Saturno, Head of the Student Services and External Relations Division at the University of Insubria, who will introduce first-year students to their new university experience.
The programme is designed to focus on the services that are most relevant and immediately useful to students beginning their university journey. It will include presentations on library services and the Leganto platform, the tools available through the University’s e-learning platform, and the activities of the University Language Centre (CLA). There will also be a focus on psychological counselling, with a presentation of the Let’s Talk service, as well as a session dedicated to practical «study method tips», providing useful advice on how to organise university study effectively.
The programme also includes a presentation of the RE-start coaching project and an opportunity for direct discussion with students who are already experiencing university life: «University Life», a question-and-answer session with students selected by the General Student Council (CGS).
Peer-to-peer discussion is one of the key features of the initiative. Alongside information provided by University services, new students will have the opportunity to ask students from later years questions, sharing doubts and curiosities and discussing practical aspects of everyday university life.
The Welcome Day is part of the University of Insubria’s ongoing student guidance activities and continues the programme developed in previous editions, with the aim of making the transition into the university community easier and more informed.
