Spending between three and six months at another Italian university, taking courses, undertaking work placements or research, and having the credits earned recognised. This is the opportunity offered by the Italian Erasmus programme, which was set up to promote student mobility within the national university system, fostering cultural exchange, regional cohesion and the enrichment of study programmes.
Applications may be submitted by 12 noon on 20 August by students who are duly enrolled and up to date with their university fees for the 2025/2026 academic year, and who, in 2026/2027, will be enrolling in a year following the first year of the bachelor’s, master’s or single-cycle master’s degree programmes specified in the call for applications. The scheme is also open to final-year students, provided that the mobility period begins at least three months before the expected date of graduation.
Students selected with a University ISEE of no more than 50,000 euros will be awarded a scholarship of 1,000 euros per month. The amount, the allocation procedures and the eligibility criteria are set out in the call for applications and will be confirmed once funding has been allocated by the Ministry of Universities and Research.
The mobility period will last between three and six months and may take place in either the first or second semester of the 2026/2027 academic year, depending on the relevant call for applications. The call for applications to undertake the mobility period in the first semester is currently open.
The opportunities involve four departments at the University of Insubria and several Italian universities.
