Legal Communication and Crime Stories: New Co.Gi. Research Group to Be Led by Giuseppe Battarino

On 12 June, the event “Legal Communication and Investigative Narratives: Opportunities and Open Questions” took place in Varese. It was organised by the Department of Human Sciences and Innovation for the Territory (Disuit) and the Epigraphic and Documentary Research Centre of the University of Insubria.

Following the institutional welcome by Professor Giulio Facchetti, Professor Giuseppe Battarino delivered the keynote presentation, followed by contributions from Fabio Calandrino, Giuseppe Longo, Alice Angelini, Elettra Aldinio and Alessandro Buzzi.

In her concluding remarks, Professor Paola Biavaschi, Director of Disuit, announced the establishment of a new research group on legal communication, named Co.Gi. The group's brand identity and logo were presented by Alessandro Buzzi.

Co.Gi. will provide specialised training, beginning with the advanced course “Crime Stories and Legal Communication”, scheduled for autumn:

The research group will focus on legal language, communication, and the representation of justice and security in political, journalistic, literary, cinematic and television contexts. Its activities will also address communication by the judiciary and the legal profession, as well as investigative narratives and crime storytelling.

The group will be led by Professor Giuseppe Battarino, lecturer in Public and Institutional Communication.
