The Order of Physicians, Surgeons and Dentists of the Province of Varese is tackling the challenge of change head-on with the conference “Between words and deeds… responsibility. The future of the profession”. “We doctors,” explains the President of the Association, Dr Giovanna Beretta, “feel in a special way the growing contradiction between what we must do and what we can do, between necessary planning logic and daily clinical and organisational practice.” She adds: “We do not wish to complain, nor do we wish to lament the past. Instead, we want to ask for help from those who plan, those who organise, and those who educate: help in understanding how to be doctors today”.
The role of the university is fundamental in this change. “The Rector of the University of Insubria, Professor Pierro,” explains the President of the Association, “will help us understand what it means for her and her colleagues today to train people and professionals”.
Following the opening remarks by the authorities and the introduction by President Dr Giovanna Beretta, the following speakers are scheduled to address the audience: Dr Walter Bergamaschi, Director-General for Planning at the Ministry of Health; Professor Maria Pierro, Rector of the University of Insubria; and Dr Mauro Moreno, Director-General of ASST Sette Laghi.
The event will take place on Saturday 23 May 2026, starting at 8.15 am, in the Aula Magna of the University of Insubria (Via Ravasi 2, Varese).
