The awards ceremony for the fourth local CyberChallenge.IT competition is scheduled for Wednesday 17 June at 11am in the ‘Granero-Porati’ lecture theatre at the University of Insubria, at Via Dunant 3 in Varese.

CyberChallenge.IT is the leading Italian initiative, organised by CINI – Cybersecurity National Lab, to identify, attract, recruit and nurture the next generation of cyber defenders, with the support of cybersecurity experts from Italian universities and professionals from the industry.

Thanks to its degree programme in Computer Science, this year the University of Insubria is taking part for the fourth time in CyberChallenge.IT, a training programme for young talents aged between 16 and 24.

The founders of Nozomi Networks, Moreno Carullo and Andrea Carcano, international experts and leaders in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, will speak on the topic ‘Nozomi: from Insubria to Silicon Valley to build the future of cybersecurity’.

Since 2020, CyberChallenge.IT has been recognised by the Ministry of Education as a project for the promotion of excellence: through this initiative, the initiatives and methods for recognising the levels of excellence achieved by upper secondary school students are identified.

Twenty students were selected at the University of Insubria, united by a great passion for cybersecurity, a commitment to and curiosity about scientific and technological disciplines – science, technology, engineering and mathematics – as well as logical, problem-solving and communication skills and, above all, a strong desire to learn. The students received specialised training and took part in a local ‘Capture the Flag’ competition.

The event celebrates the progress made by all participants during the training months, recognises the competition winners, who will go on to the national rounds, raises awareness among students and the public about the importance of cybersecurity, and highlights the fundamental role of university education in this field and the new emerging professional roles.
