The University of Insubria Library System, in collaboration with the JoVE team, is organising the seminar “Video Resources and Innovative Teaching: New Opportunities to Support Learning”, scheduled for Tuesday 28 July at 10.30 a.m. in Room 5 at the Monte Generoso campus in Varese. The event will also be available online via Microsoft Teams.
Since 2020, the University has provided the academic community with unlimited access to JoVE, a platform offering scientific video protocols and video demonstrations for research and education. Its content ranges from basic concepts to the most advanced methods and topics in science, engineering and medicine.
The seminar, aimed at lecturers, researchers and technical and administrative staff, will be led by Matteo Cabrini, JoVE Technical and Scientific Support Specialist. The session will explore how JoVE videos can be used in teaching, training and laboratory activities, as well as how the content can be integrated into e-learning platforms to create additional teaching materials, tests and activities designed to support and enhance student learning.
The programme will include an introduction to the value of audiovisual content and the scientific evidence on multimedia learning, a presentation of the platform and its role in teaching and research, and a practical demonstration of the main types of content available. Particular attention will also be given to features for creating playlists, quizzes and classes. The seminar will conclude with a question-and-answer and discussion session.
Registration via Google Form is required to attend.
A recording of the event will be made available exclusively to registered participants who are unable to attend.
