Teaching at the University of Insubria: exploring the academic context, quality and innovation

On Tuesday, 29 September, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Aula Magna at Collegio Cattaneo, Via Dunant, Varese, will host “Teaching at the University of Insubria: Context, Quality and Innovation”, an event organised as part of the activities of the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) to explore the role of university teaching staff and the main challenges of academic life.

The event is aimed at newly appointed research contract holders, researchers, associate professors and full professors at the University of Insubria, as well as lower and upper secondary school teachers. It is open to the public.

Following the opening remarks, the programme will begin with an overview of the university environment and the role of academic staff, exploring the responsibilities and activities involved in academic life. This will be followed by a discussion on the quality of teaching, research and knowledge transfer, three closely interconnected aspects of the university’s mission.

The morning will continue with a session on intellectual property and its relevance to academic work. The focus will then shift to innovation in teaching, exploring teaching methods and the role of the Teaching and Learning Center in supporting the professional development of academic staff.

Particular attention will be given to artificial intelligence in teaching and research, focusing on the opportunities offered by new technologies and the importance of using them ethically and responsibly. The final session will address inclusive teaching and support for students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs), highlighting the services and resources available at the University.

Professor Riccardo Pietrabissa, former Rector of the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, will also take part in the event.
