The University of Insubria is taking part in the 23rd edition of Varese’s Festa del Rugby, scheduled from Thursday 11 to Saturday 13 June at the Aldo Levi sports ground in Giubiano, in a particularly significant year for Rugby Varese, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The University will be present with an information stand, open every day from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., dedicated to promoting its academic programmes and orientation activities for students, families and citizens.

Participation in the main event was preceded, in recent weeks, by two satellite outreach events organised in collaboration with lecturers from the degree programmes in Sports Science and in History and Histories of the Contemporary World. The meetings focused on sport, nutrition and the history of Rugby Varese, confirming a gradual and shared path of engagement with the local area.

The overall initiative, organised and coordinated by Professor Ester Papa of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences, is part of the University of Insubria’s third mission and orientation activities. Its aim is to bring the community closer to the university world, encouraging dialogue and awareness of the University’s educational offer in an informal, participatory setting deeply rooted in local civic life.

The Festa del Rugby is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Varese summer: three days in which sport, music and conviviality come together in a rich programme of events. Among the highlights, on Saturday 13 June, is the traditional Città di Varese rugby sevens tournament, accompanied by concerts, DJ sets and numerous side activities.

Through its participation, the University of Insubria confirms its commitment to playing an active role in local life, enhancing opportunities for encounter and participation and promoting the university as an open space for exchange, listening and community building.
