The University of Insubria is participating in the Charter of Commitments Tour “Generation Respect: Now It's Our Turn”, promoted by the Lombardy Region through a travelling exhibition aimed at strengthening a culture of respect, equality and the prevention of male violence against women.

The Tour will stop in Varese, at the Morselli Building, Via Ottorino Rossi 9, from 26 October to 1 November 2026.

On Tuesday 27 October, from 9 am to 12 pm, in Room 10 of the Morselli Building in Varese, the University will host an event dedicated to promoting a culture of respect, gender equality and the prevention of violence against women. The event will bring together representatives of the academic community, institutions and local associations to present projects, experiences and initiatives aimed at raising awareness and combating gender-based violence.

The event will open with institutional greetings from Paola Biavaschi, the Rector's Delegate for Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities, Giuseppe Carcano, Head of the Provincial Education Office of Varese, and Rossella Dimaggio, Councillor of the Municipality of Varese.

The presentations, coordinated by Giacomo Furlanetto from the University of Insubria, will begin with Erica Corradi and Tommaso Gallazzi, who will introduce the Charter of Commitments “Generation Respect: Now It's Our Turn”.

This will be followed by a presentation by Professor Paola Biavaschi on the University of Insubria's Youth Gender Observatory, highlighting the University's contribution to discussions on gender equality and the involvement of younger generations.

Adelaide Caraci and Sandro Massi will illustrate the work of interinstitutional local networks for the prevention of and response to violence against women, focusing on experiences in Varese and Busto Arsizio. Enrica Branchi will present the Anti-Violence Support Service, while Soroptimist Club Varese will introduce the initiative “Soroptimist at the Cinema – Orange the World – Recognise the Signs”.

Alessandro Buzzi will provide an overview of the achievements and future prospects of the project “TRAMA: A Place, a Network”.

The morning will also feature an opportunity for active participation through the interactive session “A Place, a Network with Elisa Martorana's Women for Women”, focusing on art as a tool for social awareness. Through direct dialogue with the audience, the initiative will lead to the collective creation of an interactive artwork. Further thematic discussions may be developed with the participating associations: EOS Varese, Felicita Morandi Foundation, Pink Network and Baobab Social Cooperative.

The event is organised by Paola Biavaschi, Giacomo Furlanetto, Erica Corradi, EOS Varese, Felicita Morandi Foundation, Pink Network and Baobab Social Cooperative. It forms part of a broader collaborative effort involving the University, institutions and local associations to promote a culture of respect, strengthen local support networks and raise awareness among younger generations about the prevention of violence against women.
