World University Rankings: Insubria confirms its position in the 701–800 band and improves its performance in teaching, research environment and industry engagement

The University of Insubria has confirmed its position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, one of the leading international rankings of universities worldwide. In the edition published on Wednesday 30 September, Insubria is placed in the 701–800 band, alongside the Universities of Cagliari, L’Aquila, Perugia and Tuscia.

The new edition of the ranking assessed 2,297 universities across 118 countries, providing a global comparison based on teaching, research, international outlook and engagement with industry.

At international level, the University of Oxford retains first place for the eleventh consecutive year, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University and Stanford University. In Italy, the University of Bologna ranks first nationally for the seventh consecutive year, followed by Sapienza University of Rome and the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa.

Among the 58 Italian universities included in the ranking, the University of Insubria is placed 17th. Italy also confirms its position as the third European country for the number of universities represented in the global ranking, behind only the United Kingdom and Russia.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are based on 17 performance indicators, grouped into five areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook and Industry.

In the 2027 edition, Insubria improved its scores in three of the five pillars assessed: Teaching, Research Environment and Industry. The University also continues to perform strongly in Research Quality, with scores above the average across several indicators.
