The Department of Economics at the University of Insubria among the key players at the sixth edition of the international workshop «DCP26: Dynamics & Complexity – Pisa 2026» (https://www.cissc.unipi.it/DCP/DCP26/), held on 9–10 July at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa.

The workshop brings together each year Pisa’s leading academic institutions – the Scuola Normale Superiore, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, the University of Pisa and the National Research Council (CNR) – to explore research on dynamics and complexity. This year, thanks to the Department of Excellence project, the Department of Economics at the University of Insubria joined the organising institutions for the first time.

The University was also strongly represented by its academic staff. The session «Metrology in Complex Systems» was organised by Professor Fabio Vanni and featured two presentations by researchers from the Department of Economics. Professor Raffaello Seri presented «A Comedy of Errors», a contribution on the evolution of the stochastic component in physical and economic models. Professor Asmerilda Hitaj presented «Distributionally Robust Liability-Driven Investments in Pension Fund Management», illustrating the application of robust optimisation techniques to pension fund management under uncertainty in financial markets and demographic trends.

Professor Elisa Mastrogiacomo contributed to the session «Complex Systems in Economics and Finance» with her presentation «Dynamic Risk in Finance: A BSDEs Perspective», examining the relationship between dynamic risk measures, time consistency and backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs), while also addressing systemic risk measures as a bridge to the workshop’s broader themes of complexity.
