The project strengthens the University’s presence in the city and consolidates its relationship with the local area, bringing the activities of 400 students into the city centre.For the Varese Chamber of Commerce, this is a public-interest initiative that further strengthens the important link between the knowledge system and the economic and productive system. Hosting the Law degree programme within the Chamber’s premises means not only enhancing public property, but also contributing to the vitality of the city centre and investing in young people as drivers of innovation, legality and competitiveness for the province.The event, entitled «From Memory Comes the Future», will take place at 10.30 a.m. in Piazza Monte Grappa in the presence of military, academic and civil authorities, including Chief of Police Vittorio Pisani, Director-General of Public Security, who will deliver the closing remarks. The ceremony will also feature speeches by Varese Chamber of Commerce President Mauro Vitiello, University of Insubria Rector Maria Cristina Pierro and two student representatives: Asia Martina Di Lorenzo for Como and Francesco Tarantino for Varese. The event will be hosted by Matteo Inzaghi, Director of Rete55, which will broadcast the ceremony live on Digital Terrestrial Channel 88. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Law facilities will follow in the Immersive Room. Immagine A particularly significant testimony will accompany the day: the «Quarto Savona 15» case will be on display, containing the remains of the escort vehicle of Judge Giovanni Falcone, destroyed in the Capaci massacre on 23 May 1992. One of the main symbols of remembrance of the victims of the Mafia and of the commitment to legality, the case represents a reminder of the values of civic responsibility, which are an integral part of the education of future legal professionals.On Tuesday 15 September, the first class of the Law degree programme will be held, focusing on the close relationship between law, legality, justice and the fight against organised crime, in keeping with the values evoked by the «Quarto Savona 15» case. The Constitutional Law class, taught by Professor Lino Panzeri, will take place at 10 a.m. in the Campiotti Hall of the Chamber of Commerce building. First-year students will meet Tina Montinaro, widow of Police Officer Antonio Montinaro, who was the head of Judge Giovanni Falcone’s escort detail, and Alessandra Cerreti, Public Prosecutor at the Milan District Anti-Mafia Directorate.The Rector of the University of Insubria and the President of the Chamber of Commerce will welcome the new students. The event will also feature Varese Mayor Davide Galimberti, President of the Varese Bar Association Andrea Lanata and Director of the Varese Forensic School Fabrizio Piarulli.As part of the celebrations for its centenary, the Province of Varese will also promote, on the morning of Tuesday 15 September in Piazza Monte Grappa, the event «The Duty That Remains – Memory and a Journey for the Heroes of Tomorrow». Around 250 fourth- and fifth-year students from Varese secondary schools will take part. The students will have the opportunity to explore the issues of organised crime and legality from different perspectives and through different areas of expertise, with the «Quarto Savona 15» case in the background as a tangible symbol of the memory of the Capaci massacre.Contributions will be provided by Giuseppe Battarino, former magistrate and lecturer in Public and Institutional Communication at the University of Insubria, who will address the communication of justice and security, and Alessandra Cerreti, who will reflect on the presence of organised crime in northern Italy. Tina Montinaro will then address the students, remembering those who lost their lives in the Capaci massacre. The event will be moderated by Matteo Inzaghi, Director of Rete55.The two days thus form a single journey centred on memory as a tool for understanding the present and building the future: from the education of future legal professionals to the involvement of university and secondary school students, the remembrance of the victims of the Capaci massacre becomes a concrete opportunity to discuss legality, responsibility and civic engagement with younger generations.In the event of bad weather, the ceremonies on 14 and 15 September will take place at Ville Ponti, following the same programme.
