IA@Insubria: a morning event on 6 May in Varese dedicated to artificial intelligence projects from all the University’s departments

An opportunity to take stock of research, teaching and knowledge transfer activities related to artificial intelligence across the various departments of the University of Insubria. This is the aim of IA@Insubria, the event scheduled for Wednesday 6 May, from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm, in the Aula Magna at Via Ravasi 2 in Varese.

“It will be a unique opportunity to come together and discover the research, teaching and knowledge-sharing projects on artificial intelligence currently underway in every department of our University,” explains Davide Tosi, the Vice-Chancellor’s delegate for Artificial Intelligence. “An opportunity to discuss in concrete terms the multidisciplinary nature and cross-fertilisation between different research areas which, thanks to artificial intelligence, are finding practical applications with real-world benefits for the Insubria region, the country and Europe.”

The morning will begin at 9.30 am with opening remarks from Rector Maria Pierro and Vice-Rector Umberto Piarulli. The Mayor of Varese, Davide Galimberti, the Councillor for the Municipality of Varese, Stefano Malerba, and three representatives from the European Union’s AI Office – Elinor Wahal, Antonella Benedetto and Francesca Paola Carli – have also confirmed their participation and will speak remotely. This will be followed by two sessions dedicated to projects developed within the University’s departments.

The first session will feature Paolo Castiglioni from the Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences, Silvia Corchs from the Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences, Giovanni Balzano from the Department of Medicine and Technological Innovation, and Giovanni Veronesi from the Department of Medicine and Surgery.

The second session will feature presentations by Francesco Sacco for the Department of Economics, Francesco Ginelli for the Department of Science and High Technology, Giuseppe Magri for the Department of Law, Economics and Culture, and Nicoletta Sabadini for the Department of Humanities and Innovation for the Territory.

The closing session will once again be led by Davide Tosi, who will briefly present the University’s new guidelines on artificial intelligence, alongside Francesca Ferrari, who will speak about the activities of the Teaching and Learning Centre, followed by a concluding Q&A session with the audience.
