The University of Insubria will host the presentation of “Flashback”, the new book by journalist and university lecturer Matteo Inzaghi, published by De Piante Editore, on Tuesday 27 May at 6 pm in the Aula Magna at Via Ravasi 2 in Varese.
The book offers a journey through 1980s American cinema, explored not only as a cinematic phenomenon but as a political, cultural and social reflection of a decade that profoundly influenced the collective imagination and an entire generation. From the blockbusters that symbolised the era to the major changes associated with Reagan-era America, ‘Flashback’ analyses how cinema helped to redefine models, languages and worldviews.
Matteo Inzaghi is a journalist, director of Rete55, author of essays on the relationship between cinema and society, and a lecturer at the University of Insubria. In recent months, the book has been presented at numerous public events and also at the Chamber of Deputies, in the press room at Montecitorio.
In Varese, the author will be in conversation with Professor Paola Biavaschi, head of the Department of Human Sciences and Innovation for the Territory. The introductory talks will be given by Giorgio La Rosa and Deborah Toschi, with musical interludes by violinist Alice Cansirro Cortorillo.
Admission to the event is free.
