A ceremony marking a change of pace closed the afternoon dedicated to sustainable mobility at the University of Insubria, with the presentation of the Carpooling Awards 2025 to the students who made the most virtuous use of BePooler to reach the university campuses. Standing out, with more than 500 trips and 709 kilograms of carbon dioxide not emitted, were Claudia Piccinelli, Arianna Graziano, Riccardo Cusini, Gaia Elda Luzzani, Lorenzo Carpani, Elia Donini, Chiara Porro, Lisa Tribautino, Elia Toschi and Marta Monni, who received prizes sponsored by iconic local sports clubs: Pallacanestro Varese, Varese Hockey, Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda, Rugby Varese and Calcio Como 1927.

The awards ceremony followed the conference “EcoMobility Insubria. Sharing the journey, building the future”, dedicated to sustainable mobility and environmental responsibility at the University and organised by Professor Adriano Martinoli, the Rector's delegate for Sustainability, Green Areas and Energy Efficiency. After initial greetings from Martinoli, Vice-Rector Umberto Piarulli, Mayor Davide Galimberti, President of the Province Marco Magrini and BePooler CEO Mirko Baruffini, the afternoon continued with an overview of data, experiences and visions that capture the challenges and new energies of academic mobility.

Speakers included: Anna Caspani, with an analysis of internal monitoring and the Home-Work Travel Plan carried out with Michela Rosselli and Elena Maggi; Elena Schiaffino from Engitel on the digital revolution in mobility; Mirko Baruffini from BePooler, with his experience of the carpooling platform; Luca Allorio from the University of Eastern Piedmont, with his university's model; Lucia Zarini, Mobility Manager for the Municipality of Varese, on the city's vision; Paolo Landini and Sara Barbieri from the Province of Varese, committed to promoting light mobility in the area.

Those who choose the university carpooling service can also take advantage of reserved parking spaces, an incentive designed to encourage shared travel. All information on how BePooler works and the benefits available to the university community can be found on the university website:
