The Bizzozero Campus is preparing for a major transformation. Work on two new parking areas will begin on 18 September, one in the ATS helipad area and the other near the Monte Generoso Building.

This is the first step in a broader Campus redevelopment project, developed also in response to the needs expressed by the university community and designed to make parking and access to university facilities easier for students and staff.

Overall, the project includes three new parking areas: the first two will be developed during this phase of the works, while a third will be created in front of the Carlo Cattaneo Residence.

The transformation of the Campus will then continue with another major project: the area currently used as an unpaved car park will become the site of a new multi-purpose building, designed to expand and improve the spaces available to the university community.

From 18 September, the contractor will begin setting up the construction site and progressively fencing off the areas affected by the works. The new access, traffic and parking arrangements will come into effect on Wednesday 23 September.

The first phase of the works, which is expected to be completed approximately by mid-November, will involve some temporary changes to traffic routes, access points and parking areas. Dedicated maps have therefore been prepared for students and staff, providing all the information needed to move around the Campus while construction work is under way.

FOR STUDENTS – from Wednesday 23 September:

  • access to the Campus from Via Monte Generoso will be for pedestrians only;
  • parking will be available in the unpaved parking area, in the section that remains accessible and is separated from the construction site;
  • the unpaved parking area can be reached by car from Piazzale Bulferetti, near the Seppilli Building;
  • the parking area behind the Seppilli Building will once again be available;
  • the Carlo Cattaneo Residence car park, open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., will also be available;
  • dedicated pedestrian routes will be provided to reach the Monte Generoso Building, the Campus bar and refreshment area, and the other Campus buildings.

FOR ACADEMIC, TECHNICAL, ADMINISTRATIVE AND LIBRARY STAFF – from Wednesday 23 September:

  • the paved parking area next to the Monte Generoso Building will remain available, with reserved parking spaces;
  • access to the Campus from the tree-lined driveway on Via Monte Generoso will be restricted to staff with a valid badge.

Please also note that parking is prohibited, with vehicles subject to removal, along the tree-lined driveway from the Via Monte Generoso entrance to the ATS gate. The Local Police may issue fines and remove vehicles parked in breach of these restrictions.

In view of the changes to traffic routes and parking areas, students and staff are encouraged, whenever possible, to use public transport to reach the Campus. This page provides the timetables for urban bus routes C and E serving the Campus, as well as the additional services provided by the university transport reinforcement service on teaching days.

A project of this scale will inevitably cause some inconvenience and, particularly during the first few weeks, will require some changes to the daily routines of those who regularly use the Campus.

We thank all students and staff for their cooperation!

These are temporary changes that are part of a much larger project: a Campus that is growing and being renewed, becoming more welcoming for everyone who studies and works here every day.

The works will proceed in phases: we will keep you updated on the start of each stage and on any changes to access, traffic routes and parking arrangements.
