Contenuto servizio

An essential part of the educational process is the professional training internship, which takes place from the third to the sixth year and enables students to acquire essential clinical and theoretical knowledge and to learn how to apply it in everyday practice at the patient’s bedside.

This internship activity is carried out in various hospital departments, under the guidance of tutors, and is organised so as to progressively build the necessary multidisciplinary training, also allowing the acquisition of practical skills.

During the internship, students also learn to interact in an empathetic and constructive manner with patients, their families, and healthcare staff.

Activities in the hospital departments are scheduled to start at 08:00.

Any different timetables or morning/afternoon shifts will be communicated directly by the department.

Students must enquire with the departmental office about the arrangements for the provision of work clothing, unless otherwise communicated by the Teaching Office via the email address tirocini.med@uninsubria.it.

Academic Year 2025/2026

The downloadable file below contains the rotation schedule for the academic year 2025/2026.

The first spreadsheet, entitled “Report”, allows you to view the rotations assigned to you by entering your student registration number.

The other spreadsheets show the calendars for all rotations, enabling you to check which ones are still available.

The “Legend” sheet explains the meaning of each column.

PLEASE NOTE:

As of Monday 01/12/2025, the rotation assignment phase is closed. From that date onwards, only new assignments for students who did not take part in the July 2025 allocation, one-to-one rotation swaps between students (the students concerned must agree the swap between themselves) and rotation changes required for health reasons will be possible.

Requests for one-to-one swaps must be communicated to tirocini.med@uninsubria.it at least 2 weeks in advance of the first scheduled date.

Rotations for new assignments or necessary changes will be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance, or 6 weeks in advance for the Accident and Emergency Department of Ospedale di Circolo.

The activity

The 3rd-year internship is divided into two periods:

  1. a 5-week period in a Medical Area department, which may be divided into two periods in two different departments (3 weeks plus 2 weeks);
  2. a 3-week period in a Surgical Area department.

Depending on the organisation of the department, the working week may run from Monday to Saturday, for a total of 40 hours, distributed according to the instructions given by the Tutor.

If the internship rotation includes public holidays or days of absence due to attendance at exam sessions, these must be made up on other days agreed with the Tutor.

Please note: internship activities may only be carried out in the departments listed in the attached documents. The departments belong to facilities affiliated with ASST Sette Laghi, ASST Lariana, ASST Valle Olona, as well as the Maugeri hospitals in Tradate and Valduce in Como. Exceptions are предусмотрed only for students who are registered competitive athletes.

Fitness-for-work medical examination

In accordance with Article 41 of Legislative Decree 81/08, the student/worker (see Article 2) must undergo a preventive medical examination to assess fitness for the assigned duties.

You will be contacted by the Occupational Medicine Department of Ospedale di Circolo in Varese to undergo this fitness-for-work examination.

Preliminary training

As indicated by Article 2 of Legislative Decree 81/08, the student intern is regarded as equivalent to a worker. From this perspective, in order to begin the internship, it is mandatory to provide the intern with training on health and safety at work, in accordance with the provisions of the State–Regions Agreement as well as Article 37 of Legislative Decree 81/08.

Training in health and safety at work specifically includes the provision of two courses:

  1. General risk course (4 hours) – provided by the University and available at the following address:

    https://safetylive.uninsubria.it:4443 (use your University credentials to access);

  2. Specific risk course (4, 8 or 12 hours depending on the level of risk of the host organisation) – to be provided by the host Organisation/Company according to the procedures outlined below.

In fulfilment of this requirement, ASST Sette Laghi has therefore set up a distance-learning (FAD) training course totalling 12 hours (high risk) to ensure mandatory training on specific risks for interns enrolled in Healthcare Profession degree programmes.

In addition to the specific risk course, it is also mandatory to complete training on the processing of personal data under GDPR (2 hours).

The specific risk course and the data protection course are available on the ASST Sette Laghi Training Portal at the following address:

https://formazione.sigmapaghe.com/wfrm001.pgm?task=setCook&smurfid=&Azien1=58&Regio1=3

Alternatively: https://www.asst-settelaghi.it > TRAINING/RESEARCH > TRAINING > TRAINING PORTAL

On first access, registration is required, after which you must wait for the activation notification from the organisation, which will be sent to your email inbox (@studenti.uninsubria.it).

You must then enrol in the FAD courses, for which a further communication will be sent (from the address corsi.fad@asst-settelaghi.it) containing instructions for access and participation.

A manual detailing the procedure for registration and enrolment in the FAD courses is attached (see in particular pages 8 to 16).

All three courses must be completed before starting activities in the departments.

Courses on the FAD portal are renewed annually and may not be available during the months of January and February.

Verification and official recording of the activity carried out

At the end of each of the two periods, the student must submit the original documents (Attendance Sheet / Logbook signature sheet, see attachments) to the Teaching Office within the following week.

The documents must also be sent in digital copy to the email address indicated in the “For information” box (students are advised to keep copies of all submitted documents for possible checks).

The mandatory Evaluation Questionnaire must be completed before registering for the validation exam session and is automatically proposed during the registration procedure.
