Ph.D. - Doctoral research
The Ph.D. program is designed to train students for research activity; it lasts at least three academic years, during which the students acquire the necessary skills to perform high-profile research activities; it is an essential first step towards an academic career.
The Ph.D. program is accessed through an entrance examination based on qualifications and oral or written tests: those holding a Master's Degree or equivalent (Italian or foreign) may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the call, published every year, generally in July.
Ph. D. candidates from extra-UE Countries must apply for a Visa for Study reasons, then, once in Italy for a residence permit. All details are availble here

The procedure for admission to doctoral courses of the XXXVIII cycle will be divided into two distinct sessions "Session I" and "Session II":
- Session I expired on 2 August 2022 at 12:00
- Session II, dedicated to positions activated on PNRR shares and research projects, will expire on 22 August 2022 at 12:00 pm, with the publication date of positions on 2 August 2022

Pilot action: a.y. 2019/2020 PhD course on Enrironment and Natural Sciences (n. 9 students involved)
PCDP Personal Career Developmente Plan: the introduction of PCDPs will lead to an improvement of career guidance (as they will benefit of a structured support subject to monitor and evaluation) and, on the other hand, they represent an empowerment measures for the supervisors (as they will enhance their mentoring skills with the introduction of quality elements in the process)

The entrance examination announcements are published on the Postgraduate/Post-Lauream pages of the University Website and the Official Gazette-competitions series.
How much does it cost to attend/frequent a doctorate/doctoral study?
All Ph.D. students (assignees and non-scholarships holders) are required to pay an annual fee of €156.00, in accordance with the "Regulations on the student contribution, academic year 2017/2018".
