Credit recognition

Recognition may be granted subject to assessment of the credits considered consistent with the teaching structure of the chosen course of study and in accordance with the rules established by the teaching regulations of the course of study.
The relevant teaching departments may, on the basis of the validated credits, admit the student to years subsequent to the first.
Students who are admitted by the relevant teaching department to a year of study beyond the first year will still be required to attend the examinations scheduled for previous years of study.

The recognition of credits during the course of study will not result in a change in the year of enrolment and will require verification of the consistency of the study plan by the Department or, if applicable, the School.

Activities already recognised for the purpose of awarding university credits in bachelor's degree programmes cannot be recognised again as credits in master's degree programmes.

For the purposes of assessing previous academic career, the competent teaching structures must take into account not only the consistency with the curriculum and teaching regulations of the course to which the student is applying for admission, but also the possible obsolescence of the credits acquired.

The structures also decide on the recognition of credits for professional knowledge and skills certified in accordance with current legislation, as well as other knowledge and skills acquired in post-secondary educational activities designed and implemented by the University of Insubria, bearing in mind that the maximum number of university credits that can be recognised must be set in the teaching regulations of the individual bachelor's and master's degree courses and cannot exceed 12 credits in total between bachelor's and master's degree courses. Recognition must be based exclusively on the skills demonstrated by each student. Forms of collective recognition are excluded.
