The University of Insubria is a scientific partner of Varese City Run 2026, continuing its collaboration from the previous two editions. The Degree Programme in Sport and Exercise Sciences and the Dipartimento di Medicina e Innovazione Tecnologica (DiMIT) are organising a round table entitled “Sport, Inclusion and Sustainability”, which will take place on Friday 23 October at 6 p.m. at Villa Recalcati, the headquarters of the Province of Varese.

The event is open to the public, with a particular focus on young people and families. It will explore the role of sport in promoting the inclusion of children and adolescents with vulnerabilities, the relationship between physical activity and eating disorders, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles at all ages, starting with the youngest.

The event will open with remarks by Professor Giulio Carcano, Director of DiMIT, and Professor Andrea Moriondo, Head of the Degree Programme in Sport and Exercise Sciences.

The programme includes:

  • “Sport and Physical Activity for People with Vulnerabilities”, with Professor Fabrizio Mannoni, Adjunct Lecturer on the Degree Programme in Sport and Exercise Sciences and Head of the Semi-Residential Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Centre for Children and Adolescents at Fondazione Piatti in Besozzo.
  • “Physical Activity and Eating Disorders”, with Eugenia Dozio, Clinical Dietitian at the University of Insubria and Coordinator of the Nutrition Team at Villa Miralago.
  • “Healthy Lifestyles for Everyone, Starting Now”, with Professor Silvia Salvatore, Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Insubria and Head of the Paediatric Gastroenterology Unit at ASST Sette Laghi.

The University will also have its own stand on the afternoon of Saturday 24 October in the event village at the Giardini Estensi in Varese. The University's stand will offer science-themed activities and games for children, designed to stimulate their curiosity about human anatomy and how the human body works.
