Assessment of Personal Preparation - Master's Degree in Computer Science

Methods for Assessing Personal Preparation

Students will be required to demonstrate the adequacy of their academic preparation through a mandatory interview, which will take place after verification of the fulfilment of the following curricular requirements.

CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS

  1. Academic qualification: Students who have obtained a Bachelor's degree in one of the following classes may be admitted to the Master's Degree Course in Computer Science:
    • class L-31 (under Ministerial Decree 270/04) or class 26 (under Ministerial Decree 509/99) in Computer Science and Technology;
    • class L-8 (under Ministerial Decree 270/04) or class 09 (under Ministerial Decree 509/99) in Information Engineering.

 Alternatively, students who hold a Bachelor's degree obtained in other classes or under previous academic systems, or a three-year university diploma, or another qualification obtained abroad and recognized as suitable, and who meet the curricular requirements relating to a minimum number of CFU (university credits) in specific scientific-disciplinary sectors [SSD] (or recognized as equivalent by the competent academic body in the case of a qualification obtained abroad or prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99):

  • at least 60 CFU obtained, regardless of the specific sector, in SSD INF-01/A and IINF-05/A (formerly INF/01 and ING-INF/05);
  • at least 18 CFU obtained, regardless of the specific sector, in SSD MATH-01/A, MATH-02/A, MATH-02/B, MATH-03/A, MATH-03/B, MATH-04/A, MATH-05/A, MATH-06/A (formerly MAT/01, MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/04, MAT/05, MAT/06, MAT/07, MAT/08, MAT/09)
  1. Language skills: to be admitted to the Master's Degree Course in Computer Science, students must have an adequate knowledge of the English language, corresponding to at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Adequate language proficiency is considered satisfied if the candidate has passed a university English language exam at least at B2 level, or holds a recognized international certification at B2 level. Such certification must not have been obtained more than 5 calendar years ago, with the exception of IGCSE, IELTS, and TOEFL certifications, which are valid for only 2 calendar years. Candidates holding an Italian or foreign Bachelor's degree (BSc) obtained by attending a university programme entirely taught in English may provide, as evidence of adequate English language proficiency, a statement issued by their university certifying that the language of instruction of the programme was English (Medium of Instruction). ADEQUACY OF PERSONAL PREPARATION (INTERVIEW):

To be admitted, students must mandatorily undergo an interview to verify the adequacy of their personal preparation. The interview is intended to ascertain possession of the essential knowledge and skills specific to the degree classes under Ministerial Decree 270/04, L-31 (Computer Science and Technology) and L-8 (Information Engineering).

The interview will be conducted by a special committee composed of professors appointed by the Degree Course Council, according to procedures and timing that will be made available on the Degree Course's web pages. A negative outcome of the interview will result in exclusion from access to the Master's degree course for the academic year in which the interview took place.

Remote interviews will be held on the following dates:

  • Thursday, September 10, 2026;
  • Wednesday, October 7, 2026;
  • Tuesday, November 3, 2026

Candidates who are summoned will receive an email with the connection link a few days before the interview date. Students who have already completed the interview as part of their pre-enrolment application submitted through Universitaly, will be invited to attend a meeting for informational and orientation purposes only.

Please note that candidates who do not connect to the meeting at the start time indicated above will be considered as having withdrawn, and their pre-registration will be cancelled. Technical problems on the part of candidates will not be considered a valid justification for absence. Please also note that the time indicated above is local time in Italy (CET, or UTC+1).
