Professor Paolo L. Bernardini, Full Professor of Early Modern History at the Department of Human Sciences and Innovation for the Territory of the University of Insubria, has been appointed Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, the Chinese campus of the British university.
Professor Bernardini will deliver his first series of lectures in November 2026, focusing on the global history topics that are at the core of his current research.
"I am delighted by this appointment," Professor Bernardini said. "The University of Nottingham Ningbo China is a prestigious institution located in one of China's most dynamic economic regions. It will offer me the opportunity to engage with colleagues and students from many parts of the world, not only from China and the United Kingdom. This appointment also strengthens the ties that the University of Insubria has built with China thanks to the longstanding work of Professor Daniele Brigadoi Cologna and his collaborators, as well as Professor Barbara Pozzo, who has made a significant contribution to research on the New Silk Road. It is the result of a shared commitment that has already produced many important outcomes."
The appointment is a further international recognition of Professor Bernardini's academic work and contributes to strengthening the University of Insubria's international partnerships with Chinese higher education institutions.
