The webinar ‘Climate risk management: regulatory obligations and insurance tools for businesses’ will take place on Wednesday 20 May at 5 pm. This is the final event in the series ‘SMEs between climate risks and sustainability pathways’, promoted by the Department of Economics at the University of Insubria and organised in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and KPMG.
The session will focus on an issue of growing importance to the business sector: the increasing exposure of businesses to climate risks and the role the insurance sector is playing in managing the damage caused by extreme natural events. In recent years, in fact, the increase in the frequency and intensity of such phenomena has contributed to making the issues of risk management, insurance cover and the adaptability of businesses to a rapidly changing climate and economic context increasingly relevant.
During the webinar, we will explore some of the key operational and regulatory implications for businesses, with a particular focus on climate risk insurance, physical risk management and the future prospects of the insurance and financial markets. The session will also provide useful insights into how the insurance system is evolving to respond to these challenges and what the implications might be for SMEs in terms of business continuity, access to cover and resilience.
The panel will bring together leading figures from the insurance and reinsurance sectors: Dario Focarelli (ANIA), Daniela D’Agostino (Unipol), Lauretta Filangieri (Intesa Sanpaolo Vita) and Francesco Altavilla (Guy Carpenter), who will offer complementary perspectives on the transformations underway and their potential implications for businesses.
The webinar is free of charge and will take place exclusively online via the Teams platform. To participate, please click here.
The initiative is part of a series promoted by the University of Insubria as part of the NODES project and the PRIN project “Green Investments and Environmental Risks: Banks, Firms and Public Policies”.
