Course description

The Single-Cycle Master’s Degree Programme in Pharmacy (class LM-13) qualifies graduates to practice as pharmacists. By providing scientific and technological skills in the fields of chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, toxicology, as well as legislative and professional ethics, the programme enables students to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge and competencies required to train innovative professionals capable of meeting current societal needs. In this context, the pharmacist is assuming a new role in relation to both physicians and patients and, in some settings, represents the first point of healthcare access.

The programme also prepares graduates to work in industries, public bodies, research institutes, and regulatory agencies as drug experts, taking on positions of responsibility in the areas of research, development, production, quality control, dispensing, and post-marketing surveillance of medicines, diagnostics, and health-related products.

Furthermore, the programme provides skills for applying artificial intelligence in contexts such as clinical project management, resource allocation, pharmacovigilance, and the development of new drugs, enabling informed and timely decision-making thanks to enhanced analytical and operational capabilities.

The programme benefits from highly qualified academic staff, state-of-the-art laboratories, and national and international scientific collaborations, offering valuable opportunities for students’ scientific and professional development.

Stakeholders (Professional Orders of Pharmacists, representatives of Specialisation Schools and PhD programmes, and pharmaceutical industries) have contributed to the design of the programme and will remain actively involved throughout the entire educational pathway, which will also include the participation of pharmacies from nearby Switzerland.
