The University of Insubria celebrates its newly graduated doctors together with the Varese Medical Association, whose press release is reproduced below.

On Friday, 19 June 2026, the traditional Doctors’ Day celebration will take place once again at Villa Cagnola in Gazzada Schianno, starting at 5:30 p.m. The event is dedicated to physicians and is organized by the Medical Doctors and Dentists Association of the Province of Varese.

Following a performance by the University of Insubria Choir, the ceremony will open with remarks from Dr. Giovanna Beretta, President of the Medical Association, and Professor Maria Pierro, Rector of the University of Insubria.

As every year, the highlight of the event will be the recognition of physicians celebrating 50 years since graduation (87 recipients, including 20 women) and doctors who graduated in 2025 (118 recipients).

«This gathering represents an ideal passing of the torch between physicians whose extensive experience has been built over 50 years since graduation and young doctors who, having completed their training, are taking their first steps in the healthcare profession,» said Dr. Beretta. «With the experience and professionalism of the former, and the enthusiasm and readiness to face new challenges of the latter, we can look to the future with justified confidence and awareness.»

«Through Doctors’ Day, we wish once again to affirm our commitment to a vision of the physician as a professional capable of combining the most recent therapeutic advances with the enduring, profound human values that have always guided this profession—a journey that never stops and that always proceeds alongside the patient,» concluded the President of the Medical Association.

The ceremony will also include a cultural segment, featuring the reading of a humorous story by French writer Daniel Pennac and a musical performance dedicated to opera arias.

The event will conclude with Gaudeamus Igitur, the traditional physicians’ song, performed by all those attending Villa Cagnola.
