How can a complex production chain such as fashion be managed sustainably? This is the theme at the centre of the webinar “Sustainability and supply chain management in the fashion sector”, scheduled for Monday 4 May, from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., online via Microsoft Teams.

The meeting is promoted by the Department of Economics of the University of Insubria as part of the webinar series “SMEs between climate risks and sustainability pathways”, organised in collaboration with KPMG and Intesa Sanpaolo. This is the seventh event in the series, designed to address the theme of sustainable transition through concrete cases, with the aim of raising SMEs’ awareness of the opportunities and risks involved in this transformation process.

The meeting will focus on sustainability in production chains, with particular reference to the fashion sector, which is characterised by complex and highly integrated supply chains. In this context, supply chain management is one of the areas in which the challenges linked to the integration of ESG factors emerge most clearly, also in light of growing demands for transparency, traceability and control along the entire chain.

Alongside these aspects, the role of certification systems and verification processes in qualifying supply chains will be explored, highlighting how these tools can support companies in making their sustainability pathways more structured, transparent and credible. The topics will also be addressed through company testimonials from leading organisations, offering a concrete perspective on how sustainability pathways are implemented along production chains.

The webinar will be coordinated by Dr Alberto Citterio, Department of Economics.

The programme includes talks from 5 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. by Dr Davide Saredi of KPMG, Dr Tommaso Gatti of KPMG and Dr Alessandro Galletti of Gruppo Zegna. From 5.45 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., Dr Grazia Cerini of Centrocot and Dr Marino Vago of Vago S.p.A. will speak.

The Scientific Committee is composed of lecturers from the Department of Economics of the University of Insubria: Rossella Locatelli, Andrea Bellucci, Andrea Vezzulli and Alberto Citterio.
