The University of Insubria is offering a specialisation course in support teaching for pupils with disabilities for the 2025–26 academic year. Ministerial Decree No. 926 of 26 June 2026 authorised a total of 216 places: 200 for lower secondary schools and 16 for upper secondary schools.

Applications must be submitted on 10 July.

The course, directed by Professor Stefano Bonometti, has a minimum duration of eight months and awards 60 university credits. The programme includes subject-specific teaching, workshops, direct and indirect placements, activities focusing on information and communication technologies, and a final examination.

The aim is to provide the teaching and educational skills required to promote the inclusion of pupils with disabilities in schools. Upon successful completion of the final examination, participants will be awarded a specialisation diploma in support teaching. This qualification is valid for inclusion in the lists used for fixed-term and permanent appointments to available support teaching positions.

The programme includes 288 hours of lectures, 180 hours of workshops, 225 hours of direct and indirect placements, and 75 hours of indirect placement activities involving information and communication technologies.

The tuition fee is €3,000, payable in two instalments of €1,500. The first instalment, to be paid upon enrolment, includes the €16 stamp duty. Payment may be made exclusively through PagoPA, including through the Italian Teacher Card.

Applicants with a certified disability of 66% or more and those holding certification under Italian Law No. 104 of 1992 are exempt from tuition fees. However, they are still required to pay the stamp duty, the regional tax and the €100 fee for participation in the selection procedure.

Admission requirements may be checked on the website of the Italian Ministry of University and Research. The University does not provide individual advice regarding the validity of applicants’ qualifications.

Applicants who have already obtained a support teaching specialisation under Ministerial Decree No. 249 of 2010 for a different school level may apply for recognition of prior learning and a shortened study programme after enrolment. Applications must be sent to sostegno@uninsubria.it, using the form available on the course webpage, by 8 October 2026 for those enrolling by 7 October, and by 16 October 2026 for those enrolling following the reallocation of places in the ranking list. While awaiting the relevant decision, students are still required to attend all scheduled activities.

The University of Insubria does not offer the programmes regulated by Ministerial Decrees Nos. 75 and 76 of 2025, commonly referred to as «Indire» courses.
