Internationalization: in Sant'Abbondio to Como the delegate Barbara Pozzo has officialized two new agreements with Tunisia and Argentina

Two important moments of internationalization this morning at the University of Insubria, in the Cloister of Sant'Abbondio in Como, by the delegate of the rector for internationalization, professor Barbara Pozzo, and the head of the Office of International Relations, Luca Gallo.

First guest was Rabiaa Ben Hamida, Deputy Consul General of Tunisia in Milan, who is collaborating on the framework agreement between the University of Insubria and the University of Tunis El Manar, as part of the Mattei Plan: a project to renew Italian policy in Africa, launched in 2024 by Council President Giorgia Meloni. The public universities of Lombardy have responded to the Mattei Plan with research and teaching routes, as well as with exchange opportunities for teachers and students. In particular, the Insubria will be active in Tunisia with two executive courses: one on sustainable textiles - project already started with the PNRR - and one related to the degree course in sustainable tourism. Two proposals consistent with the partner country’s sustainability strategy, as set out in the Plan.

The second international guest at Insubria was Professor Patricia Colombo of the University of Belgrano, Buenos Aires, whose rector Dino Bellorio Clabot had already started a dialogue with Barbara Pozzo in January 2024. The agreement, finalized and officially delivered, provides for exchanges of students and teachers between the two universities thanks to the Cátedra Italia program, launched by the Argentine university in 2023. This is a permanent, non-curricular seminar dedicated to law, art, language and cultural heritage: it promotes conferences, publications and academic mobility, with the aim of enhancing common roots and fostering dialogue between the two countries.

Some activities already started at Insubria within the framework of PNRR will be part of Cátedra Italia, such as research and conferences on Made in Italy, which have also led to the open source publication of the volume Made in Italy. The identity of a historical brand» curated by Barbara Pozzo and released in 2024.
