Insubria Erasmus Day: events to discover international mobility opportunities

From 28 to 30 January, the ErasmusDay is scheduled at the University of Insubria.

The university offers students an extraordinary opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ Study programme, an initiative that allows them to live a study experience abroad at one of its partner universities in the participating European countries. During the mobility period, students will have access to the facilities of the host site and, upon return, the activities carried out will be officially recognized, in line with what is set out in the Learning Agreement.

Erasmus+ mobility is open to all university students and can be carried out in any course of study, with a duration ranging from a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 12 months. Selected students will have the opportunity to take courses, participate in academic activities and sit examinations. Selection will be through an annual public call, to be published on 22 January. Applications must be submitted exclusively online.

Participating in the Erasmus+ programme is an added value for professional careers, as highlighted by the AlmaLaurea 2023 report, which indicates that Erasmus experience increases employment opportunities one year after graduation. For this reason, the Insubria Erasmus Day is an opportunity to learn about the opportunities offered by the programme and to discover the details of the mobility call.

The number of places available will be around 1100, in more than 250 universities and 28 countries. In the academic year 2024-2025, the University of Insubria counted more than 610 Erasmus students, incoming and outgoing.

Speakers: the Delegate of the Rector for Internationalization, Barbara Pozzo, and the Head of Service Internationalization, Luca Gallo. Lectures will be given by Erasmus Visiting Lecturers, who will share their experience and knowledge of the programme, and by the Erasmus Student Network Insubria, which will provide useful information on services and activities for Erasmus students. In addition, some former Erasmus students will share their experiences, offering a direct view on how internationalisation has enriched their academic and professional path. Finally, the modalities of participation in the calls will be explained by Viola Camatel on 28 January in Varese and on 29 January online, and by Letizia Zuccarello on 30 January in Como.

As Professor Barbara Pozzo has stated:

"The Erasmus project is an important tool for internationalising our courses and offers our students a major opportunity for personal and professional growth. According to data published by Alma Laurea the experiences that students carry out abroad "are rewarding from an employment point of view: on a level playing field, those who have completed a period of study abroad recognised by their course of study have a 12.3% higher chance of being employed than those who have never spent a stay abroad".  As the new delegate for internationalisation, I will dedicate myself to the expansion of the Erasmus network and projects, in order to make it possible for all our students to benefit from this important experience.
All meetings will be recorded, and links to registrations will be available on the official event page following the event."
