The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Computer Science prepares professionals capable of conceiving, designing, and developing innovative computing solutions, applying their knowledge and skills in practical contexts. Graduates in Computer Science are able to enter the job market quickly and effectively while also pursuing continuous professional development, which is essential in a field as dynamic and rapidly evolving as Computer Science.
Studying Computer Science at Insubria means you will gain a sound basic and methodological knowledge of all the main fields of computer science and its most innovative aspects. Special attention will be attached to planning and managing distributed and multimedia systems, developing and managing web and mobile services, managing data and data protection, automation of services in public and private entities, design of intelligent systems, including those based on artificial intelligence and data analytics techniques.
You can tailor your learning pathway by choosing amongst a number of elective modules: this will enable you to focus your training, to gain skills that you can immediately exploit in the labour market or facilitate your access to the disciplines taught in the Second Cycle Degrees in Computer Science.Workshops are available from the first year, to enable students to concretely apply what they have learned. Placements are available both in the private sector and within the Department.
Graduates will have a broad range of employment options in almost all productions segments and have excellent employability rates.

This Degree Programme has been awarded a GRIN label, certifying the quality of university-level training in Computer Science.

Admission to the Degree Programme is open. In accordance with current regulations, applicants must hold an upper secondary school diploma (or equivalent qualification) or another qualification obtained abroad and recognized as suitable for admission.
However, students wishing to enrol are required to take a preparation assessment test (mandatory but non-selective).
The required test is the TOLC-S, administered by CISIA (Consorzio Interuniversitario Sistemi Integrati per l’Accesso). The test is designed to assess the knowledge and skills required for admission to the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Computer Science. The TOLC-S may be taken remotely through the TOLC@CASA format, by selecting one of the dates offered by any of the institutions that administer this assessment.
Software DevelopersSoftware developers are responsible for software programming activities and for the stages of the software development process that are directly related to programming. They work alongside software designers and analysts, translating the artefacts produced during the software design and development phases into executable instructions and source code.
Database and Security TechniciansDatabase and security technicians work in coordination with database analysts and designers, carrying out activities related to the management, analysis, maintenance, and security of databases and their associated systems.
Network and Telecommunications TechniciansNetwork and telecommunications technicians collaborate with network designers and administrators in the design, installation, configuration, management, and monitoring of telecommunications systems.
Application SpecialistsApplication specialists are professionals who operate in the final stages of software solution development, supporting the work of other professionals involved in the process, such as analysts, designers, and software developers. They are responsible for overseeing deployment activities, acting as installers and configurators, as well as maintenance activities, acting as maintenance specialists for software solutions, whether desktop, web-based, or mobile applications.
If you are a EU National, you may stay in Italy for as long as you like: you only need a passport or ID card.If you are a NON-EU National, you'll have to carry out some formalities.

FINAL EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
At the end of the third year, students must complete a final examination in order to obtain the remaining 3 CFU credits and complete their programme of study, achieving the total of 180 CFU credits required for graduation.
The graduation ceremony is open to the public and is preceded by a thesis evaluation session, which is also held in public. During this session, candidates are assessed by a small Evaluation Committee appointed by the Chair of the Degree Programme.
THESIS ASSESSMENT
The assessment depends partly on the type of work carried out by the student and involves the preparation of:
a) a report and critical discussion of work undertaken as part of an internship carried out at a company or external organisation;
b) a report on experimental and/or theoretical work conducted within an internship associated with a research project carried out within the University;
c) a review-based report on innovative methodologies or technologies proposed as solutions to emerging challenges.
The final examination is assessed by a Graduation Committee composed of at least five faculty members and normally chaired by a Full Professor of the Department.
The final degree mark is awarded on a scale of 110 points.
The final degree mark is determined by the sum of the following components:

Note: for submissions of type a), the additional score also takes into account the evaluation provided by the company supervisor regarding the student's work.
Following the evaluation process described above, the Evaluation Committee formulates an assessment of the thesis and communicates it confidentially to the Graduation Committee, composed of five members, in accordance with the University Academic Regulations (Art. 29).
Where the final score, after all additional points have been awarded, is equal to or greater than 110, the Graduation Committee may unanimously confer honours (cum laude). Honours are awarded in recognition of the candidate's outstanding mastery of foundational knowledge and skills, exceptional critical ability in applying acquired knowledge, or demonstrated independence and initiative.
The Graduation Committee then formally confers the degree during a public graduation ceremony.

The AiQUA Committee (listed in the Annual Programme Catalogue (SUA-CdS) as the Quality Assurance Management Group) is composed of the Degree Programme Coordinator, one or more members of the academic staff of the programme, one or more student representatives, and a Quality Assurance Academic Manager. The Committee is responsible for managing the degree programme’s quality assurance processes and plays a central role in its self-assessment and periodic review activities. It supports the Degree Programme Coordinator in the preparation of the Annual Programme Catalogue (SUA-CdS) and other key documents related to the programme’s quality assurance system.
This is a committee established at Department level, composed of an equal number of faculty members and students representing the degree programmes managed by the teaching structure. It serves as a permanent internal observatory within the Department on teaching activities, focusing mainly on monitoring the degree of achievement of teaching objectives, also based on constructive dialogue with students, both to collect their feedback and to promote a culture of quality. The Annual Report of the CPDS represents a synthesis of the analytical activities carried out during the year and includes improvement proposals addressed to the degree programmes.

Representatives from the professional sector collaborate in the design of the Degree Programmes (CdS) of the DiSTA Department by providing information useful for defining and updating the professional profile. They also perform advisory functions in the planning of internships and contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the educational pathway.
