Course description
The course of study, activated in the 2018/19 academic year, is oriented to the traditional subjects of environmental protection and safeguard, to which the issues of sustainability in the workplace are added.
Admission is subject to a degree title acquired in any university course and the possession of an adequate number of university credits in the basic disciplines and in those characterizing and relating to civil and environmental engineering.
Environmental and Workplace Sustainibility Engineering is the only master's degree program in Italy oriented both to the environment and to occupational safety and represents the ideal completion of the three-year degree in Engineering for work and Environmental Safety, offered in this University. In addition, the new course responds to the requests of business operators belonging to the world of production and services.
Students wishing to deepen some specific subjects and their specific language competences will be able to access international exchange programs and training internships in companies.
The study program increases engineers' abilities to tackle already known issues (environmental protection and industrial safety) and proposes new topics (for instance, structural recovery, fire-engineering and sustainable development processes, including renewable energy sources). Therefore, the purpose of the course is to provide an interdisciplinary training allowing students to develop adequate skills in the study, design and management of works and services for the safety of workers in the civil and industrial sectors, of activities related to water treatment and gaseous waste, waste management, energy saving, structural recovery.
Thanks also to workshops and internships, students will develop independent judgment, ability to analyse complex issues relating to environmental protection and safety in the workplace and an in-depth knowledge of the technical standards of the sector.
Upon passing the qualifying examination for the profession, graduates of this course will be able to access the Register of Engineers, Civil and Environmental section. Graduates who intend to continue towards further specializations will have the opportunity to access research doctorates or second level university masters.
Acquiring a Degree in Engineering is a safe investment in terms of career and income, as shown by the data that are periodically collected at a national level (for example by the AlmaLaurea Consortium).
