Graduation Exam - Biotechnology

Final Degree Examination Procedures

The student delivers a public presentation of approximately 10 minutes, reporting on the activities carried out during the internship. The presentation is given before a Committee composed of faculty members from the Biotechnology Degree Program and the Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences (DBSV).

Subject to agreement with the academic advisor, the presentation may be delivered in English.

The Committee evaluates the final presentation and discussion based on the following criteria:

  1. Introduction by the academic advisor, highlighting the student’s commitment and ability to work independently during the internship.
  2. The student’s ability to present their results and demonstrate a general understanding of the topic, as shown during the public discussion with the Committee.

The final degree grade is based on the weighted average of grades obtained in all individual exams, calculated on a 110-point scale. The Committee may award up to 10 additional points, based on the criteria outlined above (points 1 and 2).

Students who have carried out activities abroad within the Erasmus+ Study or Erasmus+ Traineeship programs will receive 2 extra points (for Erasmus+ Study, this is conditional upon earning at least 20 ECTS per semester).

Students who actively participated in the Excellence Program will be awarded 1 additional point, added after the evaluation of the final examination.

If the total score is 110 or above, the Committee may unanimously award honours (cum laude), upon recommendation by the Chair of the Committee.

The final examination is worth 3 ECTS credits.
