The first International Relations Day of the University of Insubria, promoted by Professor Giorgio Maria Zamperetti, delegate of the rector of internationalization, and the University Commission for International Relations, will take place in Como on Friday, May 10.

In the Cloister of Sant'Abbondio will be welcomed diplomats from almost 50 countries, led by Veronica Crego Porley, dean of the consular corps of Milan and Lombardy. Will be represented: Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, France, Georgia, Guinea Bissau, Kosovo, Kuwait, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Malaysia, Morocco, Mongolia, Namibia, Nicaragua, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, United States of America, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, Hungary, Uruguay, Vietnam.

Professor Zamperetti explains: "The purpose of the event, which nedeed a considerable organizational effort, is primarily to make known the reality of our University to those who, like foreign diplomats, has the opportunity to convey it authoritatively in their country of origin, contributing in this way to the notoriety abroad of the University of Insubria and to the dissemination of its image as an excellent and attractive university. Second, initiative wants to consolidate and extend, for the benefit of all teachers of Insubria, contacts with foreign diplomatic network operating in Lombardy, in order to facilitate present or future initiatives that see Insubria interested in transnational research and teaching projects". 

The meeting will open around 9.30 am in the Cloister of Sant'Abbondio with a Welcome and networking coffee, where the about 50 teachers of Insubria, who have joined, will be able to know and dialogue with the diplomats of the countries with whom they are interested in developing projects.

In the Aula Magna, after the greetings of the authorities, will follow from 10 to 11.30 a series of interventions with which will be presented the University, the territory and Insubria institutions to the Diplomatic Corps:
-  a speech by Minister Plenipotentiary Filippo La Rosa, Deputy Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will underline the importance of so-called cultural diplomacy ;
- professor Zamperetti will tell the University through the new video: «Insubria: the excellence close to you»;
- the vice president of Confindustria Como Alberto Novarese and the new president of the Chamber of Commerce of Como-Lecco Ezio Vergani will illustrate the potential and international openness of local businesses.

A short performance by the University Choir will close the day at the University, while diplomats will be accompanied to learn about other aspects of the territory.
